A Sock And A Shoe, Or…..
Everyone has habits, right?
So I have a question. When you get dressed, do you do a sock and a shoe and a sock and a shoe, or do you do a sock and a sock and then a shoe and a shoe?
Some habits can be inconsequential, and some can have far reaching effects on your life. For instance, the above example makes no difference to virtually anything you do. However, if your habit is swinging your car to the left just before you make a right hand turn, you could possibly cause an accident and kill people. If you’re a woman and you put your bra on backwards to fasten it and then spin it around to fit properly, you are just doing something that makes sense from a practical standpoint. On the other hand, if you pick your nose in public because you’ve always done that, then you may have trouble making or keeping friends.
What kind of business habits do you have?
Do you ask for referrals regularly or just whenever you think of it? Do you thank people for their business regularly, or just when you have the time. Do you recognize the birthdays of your friends, clients and their kids or does this seem silly to you? Do you tell people how much you appreciate them just for the heck of it, or tell them just when they do some big favor for you? Do you send emails just like most business people and use that horrible corporate speak or do you do something more personal, like greeting cards with verbiage that comes from the heart?
Do people remember you for who you really are, or instead for what company you’re employed by?
Do you get tired of me asking all these questions because they hit you where you live or because you get tired of reading easily?
Good business habits are critical for keeping your business growing. Most business people think that marketing means T.V. commercials, signs, billboards, phone book ads, all that kind of stuff. Actually, a more effective marketing technique is enhancing your personal image to your clients and friends, because most sales come from REPEAT and REFERRAL business. You can’t obtain that without having a RELATIONSHIP with people, and billboards and T.V. commercial don’t generate relationships! All they do is give people a stiff neck or hack them off when they’re trying to watch a favorite program. At least, they do with me. I can’t even watch a regular program without all the stupid graphics that take up half the screen telling me about what’s coming on next. Who gives a rat’s furry little behind!
Sorry….. Sometimes my professionalism slips.
Where was I? Oh…relationships, right.
Do you have an AUTOMATED SYSTEM for staying in touch with your clients, for asking about referrals, for acknowledging birthdays, for thanking and giving appreciation?
Did you say No?

Remember…there are good habits and bad habits. There are those that don’t effect your life one way or the other and then there are those that can have serious impact. Why not develop a habit that has serious beneficial impact on your business and ultimately on your life. It only makes sense.
