Do You Send “Thank You” Cards? Or “Thank You” Brownies?
Do you send “Thank You” anything?
Have you ever done something for someone and they never even acknowledged it? Was it something minor, or did it take some work on your part? Was it a major or minor inconvenience? Did you shrug it off or did it PISS YOU OFF!!!?
Most people (O.K….ME, that is) like it when you take the time to thank them for doing something for you, whether it was practically insignificant like just introducing them to someone, or something major like, I don’t know……buying them a house maybe. Just knowing that you took the time to acknowledge my efforts makes me feel good, because let’s face it, my time is valuable to me and my business. I have phone calls to make, research to do, Facebook to update, MySpace to update, Twitter to update, dogs to walk, sleep to catch up on, what-everrrrr! If I go out of my way to do something for you, then I am always wondering if you realize that I did you a favor. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doing this so you’ll owe me one. (This is where I put cotton in my mouth and talk about doing a service in a really gruff, whispery voice). But I still wonder. And I wonder what I’ll do if the opportunity to do you a favor comes up again. Oh, by the way, this doesn’t have anything to do with whether or not YOU think it’s a significant effort on my part. This isn’t about YOU!
Well, yes it is, actually. It’s about you showing your appreciation of other people. It’s about honor and integrity and the used-to-be American Way. It’s about other people remembering you when it’s time to do business. It’s about you having a relationship with other people, whether it’s business or personal.
You’ve heard that ” Givers Gain” right? If not, well, here it is…..“Givers Gain.”
What that means is that it’s the folks who do for others without thought of “What’s in it for me” who receive the blessings in the long run. Let me put it another way. What goes around, comes around. Now, what would you rather have – the old burning-bag-of-dog-poo-on-your-porch trick, or a nice plate of brownies sent with a greeting card? Most people would choose the brownies. Would you rather have a large building named in your honor or a nice effigy of you being burned in your dishonor? Most people would choose the large building (and probably get an edifice complex). You’re chances of getting brownies are much better.
Sending Thank You cards gives people warm fuzzies. They have good feelings about you. They may have bad feelings about you, but a card will make them reconsider. Maybe not change their mind, but understand I said “reconsider”. And brownies, well, what do you think that would do?
You’re probably thinking, “Right. I’m going to go to the store, look for a card, go to another store, buy brownies, come home and have to write the card, wrap and box the brownies, get in the car AGAIN and go down to mail the whole thing! Who wants to take all that time and spend all that effort and money? Me? Hell, no! My time is valuable, too!”
You have a point.
Now, what if you could do all that from your computer in less than two minutes? What if the card only costs $.62 and the 4 brownies only costs $6.20 + shipping and you didn’t have to package or mail it? What if you only sent a Thank You card? Does this pique your interest? Are you seeing possibilities here?
What if everyone started talking about you because of all the wonderful notes and gifts you sent to people, as opposed to everyone just talking about you? Would that help your business, do you suppose? What if this same tool could be used to get referrals, do automatic follow-ups, do marketing? What if you could send more than just brownies? What if you could send other gifts as well, like for birthdays?
Let us recap. Sending Thank You cards is the least you should do to acknowledge others for things they have done to help you, whether small or large. But what if you could do more than send just a card? These acts of acknowledgment will make people want to do more for you and ultimately help your business grow. By using the tool I have you will be able to do all this and more while saving yourself valuable time, effort and money. Email me at steveblu1@gmail.com to try it out for FREE.

Thank you for the comment, Alisia. Many people recognize the need to acknowledge others in a personal way. After all, life is about relationships.
I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my very first comment. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this site very often.
